For anyone unaware, the Bonneville Salt Flats is a densely packed salt pan in Tooele County in northwestern Utah.  Salt pans occur naturally, in places where the rate of evaporation exceeds the rate of precipitation (deserts essentially) and appear white when reflecting the suns rays.

A 9 mile stretch of the Bonneville Salt Flats is reserved for motor sports, in particular land speed record attempts, and hosts the annual Bonneville Speed Week.  The races go on for six days, and spectators are able to chat with the drivers and view all of the vehicles participating.  This year epic Australian photographer Simon Davidson attended and took some of the best images we've seen of the salt flats to date.  We couldn't help but share his incredible work with you all!
