Postcards from Lisbon
Built for long days in the sun, the second instalment of our Summer collection takes inspiration from European coastal living and the carefree spirit of Mediterranean road trips, popular throughout the 1960’s and '70s. This collection combines lightweight fabrics, washed textures and easy summer colour-ways made for warmer days ahead. When we were trying to decide on a location to shoot, we knew Portugal’s laid-back energy would fit the brief perfectly.
We headed out to Lisbon to shoot the campaign, meeting up with long-time friends of the brand, photographer Felix and videographer Nick. Together with models Eduardo and Teresa, the team spent a few days exploring the city and building a visual story around the collection.
For the video campaign, the idea was to create a series of postcards from the trip. Inspired by the nostalgic travel films and holiday footage of the 1960’s and '70s. Each location became its own chapter in the story, from the first meeting between Eduardo and Teresa, cruising through the city in a vintage Mercedes, to afternoons spent on a yacht following the coastline, lunch in the sun and finally ending the day at the beach as the light began to fade.
Rather than simply documenting the collection, we wanted to create a short film that captured the feeling behind it, a classic European Riviera getaway, told through a series of moments collected along the way.
More than anything, the few days in Lisbon reminded us that the best campaigns are built around good people. Great locations certainly help, but it's the energy of the team, the unexpected moments and the friendships formed along the way that ultimately make a shoot memorable. (Thanks for the homemade cookies Teresa!)
We wandered down hidden side streets, ate burgers by the waterfront in a local restaurant and hung from boat masts for the perfect shot, and it all came together exactly how we hoped it would: relaxed, authentic and made for a season spent outdoors in the hazy summer sun.
