The Shape Of Summer: Depot Cargo Pants

There’s a certain rhythm to summer dressing: a loosening of structure, a leaning into ease, a return to pieces that breathe, move, and invite you to unwind. It’s the season of stripping things back, but never dialing things down. That’s exactly where the Depot Cargo Pant began, with the idea of a summer trouser that prioritises comfort without sacrificing intention.

We weren’t interested in reinventing the cargo pant, just reimagining it for the warmest months. Traditional cargos are often heavy, pocket-laden, and built for utility. The Depot takes a different approach. We kept the familiar side pockets but pared back the rest, removing bulk, simplifying the silhouette, and focusing on versatility. The result is something altogether lighter, more wearable, and effortlessly adaptable to everyday summer life.

Fabric with Intention

We started with the fabric. The Depot is crafted from an 11oz cotton twill, substantial enough to hold its shape, yet breathable enough for the heat. It wears with quiet confidence, soft against the skin and built to move.

The ecru version leans into its natural state. Subtle flecks woven through the surface give it a textured, sun-washed feel, like weathered canvas or beach stone. The charcoal, by contrast, is overdyed for a deep, softened tone with a lived-in character. Both are finished with a gentle garment wash that gives them that already-worn comfort, as if they’ve been in your rotation for seasons.

Relaxed by Design

This is a pant designed for relaxing. The shape is straightforward: relaxed through the hip with a clean, straight leg that sits just off the body. It encourages movement without exaggeration. Room to breathe, but not oversized.

Rounded side pockets, inspired by cargos but streamlined for summer, offer just enough storage without bulk. Natural corozo buttons keep things understated, while an elasticated waistband and adjustable inner ties add to the ease, making them as comfortable on a morning coffee run as they are on a weekend away.

The Shape of Summer

What does the perfect summer trouser look like? We think it looks a lot like the Depot: simple, breathable, easy to pair with anything, a go-to for when the days stretch long and the heat hangs in the air.

This isn’t a traditional cargo. It’s a softer, lighter, more refined take- made for summer, made to move, made to live in. A shape that keeps up with the season’s pace and gets better every time you wear it.
