Passing the Iconic Tower Bridge in old London Town, it became apparent we were nearing our destination; as the roar of bike tanks grew louder and motorcycles began appearing from all angles. The Tobacco Docks- the home of the 9th Bike Shed Show 2018 was just around the corner.

We travelled down on the Sunday expecting things to be quieter- more room to admire the builds and shorter queues for when it was time to get the beers in. We couldn’t have been more wrong. Upon arrival one of the guys at the ticket desk informed us that there had been more than 18,000 attendees so far that weekend- really it was hardly surprising, given the success of last year and promises of this years show being even better.

As well as the usual big-name sponsors such as Indian, Triumph, Royal Enfield, BMW and Yamaha; The Bike Shed also welcomed Scrambler Ducati and a number of other smaller custom and shed builders- displaying more than 200 bikes. Both visitors and exhibitors had rode in from across Europe and the UK to witness rows and rows of quality craftsmanship and design. We caught up with artist Ryan Quickfall (@ryanroadkill), who had travelled nearly 300 miles down from New Castle to display his work inspired by “All things two-wheeled & demon ridden”, as well as the guys from Bolt London and The Malle Mile.

Amongst the visitors that day was 15x world championship winner & motorcycle legend Giacomo Agostini, unfortunately we didn’t get chance to speak to him this time, we were probably onto our next Old Fashioned at the Rebel Yell Bar… Despite the greenhouse conditions- so hot, once again The Bike Shed put on a show to remember; upping the motorcycle standards, the number of retailers (not forgetting the barbers, live screen-printing & tattooists), and providing those quality deckchairs for us to sit back on, stuff our faces and enjoy the sun.

And they’ve announced next years dates: 24th, 25th, 26th of May 2019
