WE LAST MET UP WITH THE VVMC GUYS BACK IN JULY, WHEN WE FOLLOWED THEIR 3RD SUNDAY RIDE FROM ABBOT & KINNEY, NORTH TOWARDS THE NEPTUNE'S NET IN MALIBU. UNFORTUNATELY OUR BUSY SCHEDULE MEANT THAT WE DIDN’T HAVE MUCH TIME TO CATCH UP AFTER THE RIDE, BUT IT TURNS OUT THEY LIKE WHAT WE DO AND THEREFORE INVITED US BACK AS SPONSORS FOR THE ANNUAL VENICE VINTAGE MOTORCYCLE RALLY.
LAST SATURDAY MARKED THE 10TH INSTALMENT OF THE VVMR, AN EVENT THAT BRINGS TOGETHER THE MOTO-CENTRICS OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND FURTHER AFIELD; LINKING PAST AND PRESENT MOTORCYCLE CULTURE. THIS YEAR’S EVENT, IN MEMORY OF FELLOW CLUB MEMBER AND ‘BROTHER’ JOEY, KICK STARTED WITH A MORNING RIDE OUT OVER THE INFAMOUS VENICE CANALS (CA) THROUGH TO MALIBU AND BACK, ALL IN TIME FOR THE GATE OPENING AT 11AM.
WITH THE BUILT NOT BOUGHT MANTRA SETTING THE VIBE FOR THE DAY, BIKE BUILDERS AND SPONSORS SUCH AS LUCKY WHEELS GARAGE, TRIUMPH LA, DEUS EMPORIUM AND RIVER SEAT COMPANY DISPLAYED THEIR WORKS ALONGSIDE RETAIL BRANDS, VENDORS AND OTHER MOTO-ENTHUSIASTS. THERE WERE BEST IN SHOW AWARDS (WON BY A 1932 CECHIE BOEHMERLAND), A MISS VVMC PIN UP GIRL COMPETITION AND THE CHANCE TO WIN A 1950 TRIUMPH THUNDERBIRD PRE-UNIT BOBBER, COMPLETED JUST 24HOURS BEFORE THE RALLY, IN THE RAFFLE! EVEN THE UGLIEST BIKES WERE GIVEN HONOURS, ALL (VINTAGE) ARE WELCOME!
IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET INVOLVED WITH AND MEET SOME OF THE BEST NAMES ON THE SCENE, GRAB A BURGER AND LISTEN TO A BIT OF PUNK ROCK. IT’S AN HONOUR TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF SUCH A GREAT DAY! NEXT TIME!
