For our second UK date of the Tattoo Tour we didn’t have to stray too far from home, as we made the hours journey over to Worcestershire, in the West Midlands, for the ‘Lock & Key’ flash day. Following the success of the previous stops of the tour we were expecting big things and it did not disappoint. The cobbled streets of Worcester may not stand up to the big cities of London, LA & Paris (new stop on the list??) on the map but there’s nothing lowkey about their tattoos.
Artists: Adam Hudson (@hudsontattoo), Joe Turner (@jt_tattoo), Cameron ’Stretch’ Duncan (@stretchytattoo), Liam Kerr (@kerrtattoo) & Elza Van Houden (@elzavanhouden)
Heading up the stairs into the studio, it’s clear too see how much detail and dedication goes into these artists work. We’re big believers that no blank canvas should be left untouched, but the studio walls of Lock and Key are something else. Every inch is emblazoned with framed artworks- stunning trad' designs and flash sheets from the artists themselves, other inspirational artists and those that they’ve just collected along the way- including a huge (A1?) board from fellow tattoo artist & musician Frank Carter.
You could easily spend a day there just looking around the studio- at the impressive collection of Star Wars memorabilia, the band merch (Black Sabbath 🤘) and the flag display (keep an eye out for something we’ve been working on with @oxfordpennant coming soon…) in and amongst the artwork. But Saturday was all about the tattoos and beer. Shout out to Piston Head Lager for the supplies!
The artists had worked up a number of flash designs influenced by the P&Co Lost Cause collection- keeping each sheet custom to their own individual styles. Despite two of the resident artists only just arriving back in Worcester from a guesting spot back down in London, a tour of Europe and Brighton tattoo Convention, the standards were in no way compromised- with each artist tattooing their usual mixture of traditional, blackwork and fine-line minimalist pieces.
Once again we’d like to thank all the artists of Lock & Key for hosting our flash day. Coverage from Friday’s event at LA River Tattoo co. Coming soon. Next stop Canada- the flash is insane.
See ‘The Lost Cause Flash Tattoo Tour’ for upcoming dates.
