A look back at the momentous moments in music

Sounding out the summer

As we close on another action-packed festival season, the sound of the summer still echoes in our memories. The buzz of the crowds pulsing with energy, the electric glow from the stage, the hazy memories made and that unforgettable feeling left behind that only live music can make you feel.

So before the dust fully settles, we wanted to take a moment to look back at some of the momentous moments in music that truly made this season what it was, from the goosebump-inducing sets, stand-out moments and all of the little bits in between.

Download Festival @ Donington Park

There was no better way to kick off Festival Season than with the mighty return of Download Festival at Donington Park, a space turned into holy ground for fans of rock and heavy metal alike, and our team was right there in the heart of it, soaking up the music, the atmosphere, and thankfully, this year, the sunshine.

After 2024’s chaotic weather left us wading through mud and battling the elements, this year was a complete 180. Blue skies and blazing sunshine set the perfect stage for three epic days of live music. And what a line-up it was with standouts like Green Day, Korn, Sleep Token, Weezer, Bullet for My Valentine, Sex Pistols featuring our friend Frank Carter, The Darkness and many, many more.

From legendary headliners to fresh new blood, Download 2025 pulled out all the stops.

Green Day tore through a set packed with anthems, the highlight being the moment Billie Joe sang the line ‘here comes the rain again falling from the stars’ as it began to rain, chilling but equally as magical. Korn brought their signature heaviness in a performance that shook the grounds quite literally, and Sleep Token delivered one of the most emotionally charged sets of the weekend, blending haunting melodies with crushing intensity.

Other highlights included Weezer bringing the feel-good energy with sing-along hits, Bullet for My Valentine throwing down a ferocious set, and The Darkness proving once again that flamboyant glam rock is alive and kicking.

Download 2025 reminded us all why this festival is a cornerstone of the rock and metal world. We already can’t wait for next year.

Black Sabbath - Back to the Beginning @ Villa Park

Taking it quite literally back to the beginning, on the 5th of July, the summer officially roared to life with an emotional and unforgettable moment in rock history - Black Sabbath’s epic farewell concert at Villa Park. For fans, especially those lucky enough from our team who were there in person, it was nothing short of legendary.

The sold-out show wasn’t just a goodbye; it was a celebration of everything Sabbath stood for. With powerhouse performances from Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, and a surprise appearance by Yungblud, the night paid a thunderous tribute to one of the most influential bands in music history.

Over 40,000 fans gathered to witness Sabbath perform together for the first time in 20 years - a moment that brought raw emotion, deafening cheers, and a wave of nostalgia that washed over Birmingham and beyond.

July 5th will forever be etched in the memories of not just the people of Birmingham, but anyone who’s ever felt the pulse of a Sabbath riff. It wasn’t just a concert; it was history in the making.

Glastonbury @ Worthy Farm

We couldn’t take a look back at the summer season without shining a spotlight on the legendary Glastonbury Festival. Year after year, it remains one of the most iconic music festivals in the world, and this year was no exception. The lineup was absolutely stacked with a diverse and electrifying mix of artists that had fans buzzing from start to finish.

This year's headliners included the genre-defying The 1975, whose captivating live shows continue to draw massive crowds. Neil Young, a true music legend, brought his timeless sound to the festival, offering a nostalgic yet powerful performance. Not to be missed, Olivia Rodrigo took the stage with her infectious energy and chart-topping hits.

But it didn’t stop there.

Glastonbury’s rich and varied lineup included powerhouse bands like Biffy Clyro and The Libertines, each bringing their distinctive rock sounds to an enthusiastic crowd. Emerging acts such as Wet Leg captivated audiences with their fresh, indie vibes, while Charli XCX delivered an electrifying pop spectacle. The legendary electronic group The Prodigy brought an intense, high-energy set that had festival-goers dancing nonstop.

Adding to the eclectic mix were Wolf Alice, whose alternative rock melodies blend grit and emotion perfectly, and Maribou State, known for their lush, atmospheric electronic sounds. The festival also featured Bob Vylan, whose politically charged punk-rock made a bold statement, resonating deeply with listeners.

Whether you were there in person or watching from afar, this year’s lineup was a true testament to the spirit and enduring legacy of one of the world’s greatest music festivals.

Oasis @ Worldwide

In the heat of summer, fans from all around the world were treated to one of the most highly anticipated comebacks in music - the return of Oasis.

After years of silence and speculation, the legendary Britpop band once again captured the spotlight, sending waves of excitement through the music world. Their reunion wasn’t just a headline, it was a cultural moment, a reminder of the raw energy and anthemic songwriting that once defined a generation. As temperatures rose, so did the collective nostalgia of fans old and new, all eager to see if Oasis could recapture the magic that made them one of the defining acts of the '90s.

This comeback was about more than just music—it was about legacy and lingering tensions, and in classic Oasis style, it delivered. The tour is still underway, wrapping up on November 23 in São Paulo, Brazil.

Reading and Leeds @ Bramham Park/Richfield Avenue

To close out the summer festival season in unforgettable style, all eyes turned to Reading and Leeds. As always, the festival delivered a high-octane weekend packed with massive crowds, electric energy, and a genre-spanning lineup.

One of this year's headliners, Hozier, took to the stage with his signature soulful sound, weaving poetic lyrics and haunting melodies into a set that felt both intimate and grand. Fresh off a meteoric rise, Chappell Roan proved she’s more than just a viral sensation; her powerful vocals and bold stage presence made her one of the most talked-about acts of the weekend.

Bring Me the Horizon brought their usual chaos and intensity, complete with explosive visuals and a setlist that had mosh pits erupting across the crowd. Limp Bizkit turned back the clock with a nostalgia-fueled performance that reminded everyone just how fun—and ferocious—nu-metal can be.

Reading and Leeds 2025 didn’t just end the season—they exploded across the finish line. From indie and alt-pop to metal and hip-hop, the festivals once again proved why they remain essential fixtures on the global music calendar.

As the sun set on another unforgettable summer of live music, we already can’t wait for next year.
